Washing Machine Not Draining? Here Is Why

What is usually behind it
Blocked pump filter
Coins, hair clips, lint and small socks all end up in the pump filter. It is the most common cause of drain failures on front loaders.
Failed drain pump
Pumps wear out. If the machine hums at the drain stage but nothing moves, the pump itself has likely failed.
Kinked or blocked drain hose
A hose crushed against the wall or clogged with lint will stop water leaving the machine.
Household drain blockage
Sometimes the machine is fine and the standpipe or household drain is the problem. We can tell you which it is.
Pressure sensor fault
If the machine cannot sense the water level correctly, it may refuse to progress through the drain stage.
